The Modelling and Simulation Research Group, as part of the Irish Centre for Cloud Computing and Commerce (IC4) have been successful in the latest ICT-06 call by the European Union for new H2020 projects.
The €4.6 Million project, known as RECAP (Reliable Capacity Provisioning and Enhanced Remediation for Distributed Cloud Applications) http://recap-project.eu involves 9 partners from 5 countries (Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom) including Intel Labs Europe, Satec, BT, Linknovate, Umea University, Ulm University, Tieto and Imdea Networs Institute.
RECAP aims to develop the next generation of cloud/edge/fog computing capacity provisioning and remediation via target research advances in cloud infrascture optimisation, simulation and automation.
The overarching result of RECAP is the next generation of agile and optimised cloud computing systems. The outcomes of the project will pave the way for a radically novel concept in the provision of cloud services, where services are elastically instantiated and provisioned close to the users that actually need them via self-configurable cloud computing systems.
The project is set to kick off at the start of January 2017 and will run for 3 years. More news to follow!
